The Beta for Arras 1.7 is now available for testing.

Please note: Beta. Feel free to load it on a test site and kick it around. See where it breaks. When you break something (or just see something that’s not quite right) please report it, so I can take a closer look. (Please and thank you.)

As stated last week, as Arras development resumes, I am starting fresh with the last version available from Melvin Lee (1.5.3-RC1). With this new line of development, I’m hoping to preserve functionality that was dropped in earlier lines.

With that in mind, this first release will be a direct-line update of the old 1.5.3 (Aug, 2012) theme.

I’m limiting changes for this release to bringing the Arras 1.x line up to compatibility with more recent WordPress versions. The new release will add native WordPress theme support for navigation, title tags, custom backgrounds, and custom logos. It will therefore require a minimum WordPress version of 4.5.

Future releases will require more recent WordPress versions, and more recent PHP versions, but getting Arras up to minimum WP 4.5 standards and running without errors on WP 4.9.1 will do for starters.

Between 1.5.3 and 1.7 there are no style changes, other than a couple corrections of minor style bugs. For a full list of changes, see the Change Log.
