The first release since late 2015, Arras 1.7 is a direct-line update of the old 1.5.3 (Aug, 2012) theme.

  • Between 1.5.3 and 1.7 there are no style changes, other than a couple corrections of minor style bugs. As such, please note that this version┬áis not mobile-ready.
  • This version requires a minimum WordPress version of 4.5. If you haven’t updated WordPress in a while, update WordPress first.
  • Because this version fixes an error in the way previous versions of Arras handled widget areas, you may need to check and reset your widget locations after updating.
  • This version also implements native WordPress handling of navigation and the custom logo, so you may need to check and reset your menus and logo (if you’re using one).

Please also note:

  1. If you’re currently using an Arras 2 or 3 version, this version will be a downgrade. You may want to pass on this one. Since this is a development re-start, it does not account for the 2.0 and 3.0 versions. (We’ll get there, but we’re not there yet.)
  2. If you’ve been using a child theme (such as Arras Classical Gamer) chances are those old child themes are not going to work with this. However, if you have one of those old child themes, I’d love to hear from you.
  3. If you have custom styles in an old user.css file, please create a new child theme that loads those styles. Instructions for doing so can be found on the WP Codex and at WP Beginner.

For a full list of changes, see the Change Log. As usual, if you find issues, please report them!
